" People love to be swept off their feet, to go into an environment where they've never been, to experience things they only dream about. And filmmaking offers that potential." - Peter Guber
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be swept off your feet whenever you want to? Even just reliving that magical day when you exchanged " I dos" with the love of your life. Priceless, really. The sad reality is that wedding videos are usually the first ones on the chopping block when it comes to budget. More often than not, couples are usually content to have their special day captured on photographs. But... there are certain things that photography would not be able to capture, no matter how phenomenal your photographer is. Hearing you both say your " I dos" or your personal vows is one. The precious way you look at one another, or how one of you got all choked up while exchanging those solemn vows. Hearing all the laughter as your best man/maid of honor/ father give out their toasts during the reception. Seeing your guests' reaction as you walk down the aisle in all your organza/tulle/lace glory. We could go on and on about this for days. You don't have to break the bank to have one. There are so many wedding videographers out there, with varying price points. Word of warning though. Make sure you do your homework and research on their portfolio and previous works. Ask your photographer if they have worked with any videographers that they may recommend to you. Carve out some time to personally meet them for coffee, see if their personalities would jive yours before signing your downpayment away. Ironically, for someone who is now involved in the wedding filmmaking industry, we never had ours on film. Sob :( Biggest regret ever!!! We couldn't (unfortunately) even remember how we both said our vows. (Paul initially disagreed, but couldn't recite his vows when I asked him to now.) Things happened so fast, everything was a blur that day. Would have been nice if we were smart enough to know these things then. To all you lovebirds out there, don't be afraid. Take the plunge. Be the star in your personal lifetime movie. P & A

"Music is the strongest form of magic." - Marilyn Manson
No matter how flawless your filming and editing are, choosing the wrong music can ruin everything. Well, ruin is such a harsh word. Let's just say that it can either make or break the story or emotion that you are trying to convey. This blog entry is to give future brides/grooms our insight as to why we try to convince couples to give us their utmost trust in our music selection for their wedding videos. As videographers, we are the people from the outside looking in during your wedding day. We see every emotion, every detail, etc. We even take mental notes when listening to your DJ's playlist during reception, since it would pretty much tell us what musical genres or types of songs you are usually inclined to listen to. Even prior to your event, we would ask you to give us a couple of songs that have meaning to you as a couple. One of our goals is to create a wedding film that is unique to you. You may think that the "IT SONG" of the moment is the perfect track for your video... and so does the rest of the brides out there. It's like having other ladies in a party wearing the same exact dress you are wearing. It takes away the magic... Wedding films do not strictly need to use love songs or ballads. A song that has meaningful lyrics, a good melody, has peaks and valleys in tempo, can easily trigger that " tug in the heartstring" emotion. We have used pop, house music, alternative, even folk ( FOR REAL) music in the past and have had amazing results! Paul is a musician since birth and I was a ballet dancer for more than 10 years. Musicality is one of our strongest points. There is somewhat a science to what we do and how we do it or maybe it just comes organically with us. How do we know if we have the perfect song? If both of us gets teary eyed the first 10 seconds the video clip plays with the music =) You have to understand that we somehow have been immune from being emotional during weddings, given that we have been to a lot! If it can melt our stone hearts, it would surely melt yours. P & A |
